Electrical Engineer - PV/BESS Designer

Our Engineering area is formed by a consolidated team that works nationally and internationally in the basic and detailed design of renewable energy projects. Its mission is to ensure that these designs meet the highest quality standards to maximize the profitability of our client's projects. We also have a specialized team that acts as Property Engineering and supervises the construction and commissioning phases of the projects, reporting the progress of work and ensuring the quality of the work in the different disciplines: civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
We are currently looking for a PV/BESS designer to join our fast growing and diverse engineering consulting team. The position will report to the Director of Engineering. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow as a renewable energy professional.
The principal duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design and drafting for solar photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects using AutoCAD and PVCase.
- Create and modify electrical single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and equipment layouts for PV and BESS projects.
- Develop site plans, equipment layouts, and electrical drawings for rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted solar PV installations.
- Assist in the production of energy models on solar PV and storage projects.
- Verify and comment on electrical designs and/or construction documents of solar PV and BESS projects.
- Support Project Managers in the development and review of engineering deliverables.
- Evaluate and understand production data provided by clients and assist with analyzing said data.
- Continuous evaluation of process improvement for technical drawings and design documents produced.
- Manage internal/external deadlines and expectations as required.
- Ensure the highest level of quality assurance and quality control of own work.
- Other tasks as directed.
What do we need?
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or PVCase, with the ability to create detailed civil and/or electrical drawings efficiently.
- Excellent understanding of solar PV and BESS civil and/or electrical design principles and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to perform under high pressure and in a dynamic work environment managing multiple project deliverables.
- Proven experience in solar and energy storage projects, either in engineering, design, or construction.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assimilate technical and commercial information and translate that into appropriate designs or assessments.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as task prioritization.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications.
- A strong personal commitment to continuous improvement and staying updated on CAD technologies and renewable energy design trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience in PV/BESS civil and/or electrical design.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or PVCase, including 2D and 3D design capabilities.
- AutoCAD certification or demonstrable advanced skills in AutoCAD is a strong plus.
- Experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Solar PV design, including residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects.
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design.
- Power utility system design.
- Proficiency in PVsyst and other modeling software such as Homer is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with equipment specifications and selection for PV and BESS components.
