Job Description
Enertis is seeking a qualified Project Manager candidate to join our US-based team Owner’s Engineering Team of professionals. This position will focus on the US photovoltaic market, however contributions to the global engineering teams is expected.
In this role you will support our culture of internal and external client service, build our strength in understanding and anticipating client needs and expectations, execute strategies to advance the client’s project objectives and manage risk, establish priorities, promote alignment the project team, and resolve emergent problems
Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for overseeing execution of Utility Scale PV Solar projects through the development, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Maintain an intimate knowledge and understanding of project documentation. Including, but not limited to:
- Civil, Electrical, and Structural Plans and Design
- Installation manuals
- EPC Contract
- Power Purchase Agreement
- Interconnection Agreement
- Land Agreements
- Schedule
- Oversee project execution through the project lifecycle to ensure scope, cost, schedule, and quality goals are met. Including, but not limited to, the following:
- Manage stakeholder meetings and communications to monitor project status, track deliverables, as well as identify and mitigate potential risks
- Prepare status regular reports to the Client to identify and communicate risks to scope, cost, and schedule and develop mitigation plans and recommendations for said risks.
- Assist the Client in maintenance and retention of key project documents
- Review the EPC Contractor’s progress reports and analyze the project schedule, cost, and quality documentation and provide recommendations to the Client
- Provide technical support on the construction methodology proposed by the EPC Contractor, evaluating advantages, disadvantages and potential cost savings or increase costs associated with variation claims.
- Review and approval of submittals, CO, RFI, and NCRs, to determine their validity against the specifications of the EPC Contract and known local conditions of the project site. Recommend appropriate resolution and direction to client. Monitor open submittals to ensure closeout within EPC guidelines.
- Work closely with EPC Contractor, Engineer of Record, and internal engineering resources to review and approve Utility Scale PV plant drawing packages at various stages of the design to ensure compliance with owner scope of work (SOW), technical specifications, applicable codes & standards, contractual documents, and good industry practices. This may include:
- Solar array layouts, one-lines, collection systems, collection system studies, and equipment installation details
- Calculations and studies including, but not limited to, load flow, grounding, short circuit, arc flash, ampacity, geotechnical, structural, etc.
- Identification of gaps in scope, specifications, cost, and schedule, and driving resolution of these issues
- Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to address all technical concerns, deliverables, along with any issues and challenges encountered during the project, and to ensure design deliverables and schedules meet project requirement
- Coordinate and support for the delivery of "as built" drawings by the EPC Contractor and provide an exception report as part of the defects list. (PCM)
- Provide final review of commissioning packages provided by the Contractor, including final studies, design packages, submittal documents, etc. Provide review of the Project Punchlist and completion of indicated work.
- Perform visits to the project site to review project quality, workmanship, code compliance, safety, reliability, and conformance with site plans and design documents. Technical supervision to ensure that the performance of the works is correct and in accordance with the Project’s contracts, specification, engineering designs, relevant standards and laws, the Client’s permits, schedule, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in Solar PV Project Management, Engineering, or Construction of utility scale projects
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, includes drafted plans, sections, elevations, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Strong understanding PV & Substation Construction standards, processes, quality, schedule, and budget control.
- Advanced knowledge of civil, structural, and electrical engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
- Strong understanding of Solar PV components, including modules, inverters, racking systems, and Balance of Plant
- Ability to analyze, think critically and problem solve. Additionally, if flaws are discovered, must be able to pose solutions to those flaws
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated effectiveness in carrying out projects and tasks with minimum supervision
- Detail oriented and efficient
- Working knowledge of testing and commissioning plans and procedures
- Working knowledge of procurement & contract administration
- Working knowledge of the NFPA, NEC, NETA, UL and other applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to travel (Up to 20% travel)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and proven ability to learn new software programs
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- 5 -7 years of experience in Solar PV Project Management, Engineering, or Construction of utility scale projects
- PE license
- NABCEP certification
- OSHA 30
- Strong understanding of layout optimization and technical knowledge of major equipment associated with solar PV facilities
- Strong knowledge of civil, structural, and electrical engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
- Experience in reviewing 30%, 60%, 90% drawings as related to Solar projects
- Intermediate knowledge of civil earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utility, grading and drainage, structural, and mechanical construction as related to utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage solutions
